Our Covenant

cov·e·nant (n): a solemn agreement between the members of a church,
that they will walk together according to the precepts of the gospel .

Having accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, acknowledging this through believer’s baptism, and relying on the grace and power of the Holy Spirit, we at The Reach Church do covenant together to:

* Fight for authenticity in our lives by being real to who God has made us and called us to be.
(Matthew 6:1-24, 23, James 1:22-27, Philippians 3, Ephesians 4:1)

* Be diligent in keeping the unity of the church: not backstabbing, Slandering or gossiping about one another; but being unified in the Vision, Mission and Process of the church remembering that there is “one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism and one God and Father of all who is over all, through all, and in all.”
(2 Timothy 2:14-26, James 4:1-12, Ephesians 4)

* Stand in the gap: Interceding for one another through fervent prayer and service.
(Acts 2:42, 6:1-6, 12:5, James 5:16, Philippians 2:4, 1Corinthians 16:15 Hebrews 6:10)

* Meet corporately to worship God and build each other by loving and encouraging one another to not give up, but grow up in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
(Psalm 95:1-2, Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:19-25)

* Stand on the Word of God as our source of truth and instruction for living.
(Psalm 119:105, John 17:17, 2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Peter 1:25, 2 Peter 1:19-21)

* Practice mercy, love, compassion and forgiveness toward one another just as Christ has done toward us. We realize we are sinners saved by God’s grace and also need grace from each other from time to time.
(Matthew 5:7, Luke 23:34, John 3:16, 2 Kings 13:23, Matthew 9: 13, 36, Luke 7:13, John 15:12, Colossians 3:12-14, James 3:17)

* Be on guard against sin in our lives because we are no longer slaves to it. We will walk in freedom but not use it as an opportunity sin. We will seek to please the Spirit of God and not the lusts of the flesh.
(Galatians 5:1-26, 1 John 3:4-10, Romans 6:1-23)

* Strive to connect with our culture, but not compromise Godliness for the sake of being relevant. We are here to change the world not be changed by it.
(Exodus 23:2, Deuteronomy 18:9-14, Matthew 5:13-16, John 15:19, Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 6:14-17, 1 John 2:15-17)

* Love the lost, help the hurting and glorify God. Taking the message of the gospel to our families, to our friends and to our community.
(Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 12:30-31, 16:15, Luke 10:29-37, 24:46-49, Isaiah 49:6)

* Invest our time, talent and treasure into what God is doing here. Realizing God has given us the privilege of stewardship not ownership. It all belongs to Him anyway!
(Psalm 24:1, 50:10-12, Malachi 3:6-18, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 7:23)
